Accommodation
In India, The quality of hotels varies considerably from area to area. You have 5 star deluxe hotels to 1 star Hotels, rated as per their service, comfort and ambience. You also have opportunity to stay at Palace / haweli style hotels owned by the royal families at varied places. Check-in & Check-out time at Hotels is 12 Noon. Most of the hotels have the money change facility available.
Food and Drink
In most of the cities all types of cuisines are available. All 4/5 star Hotels will usually offer a variety of international menus and can guarantee their food quality and kitchen hygiene… Eating in other places is not recommended. Smaller hotels, lodges and tented camps do not offer a la carte menus but have substantial fixed menu meals served on the table. It is not advisable to drink tap water under any circumstances, we recommend to use bottled mineral water, which is easily available at all places.
Electricity
The electric voltage in India is 220 AC 50 cycles and the round 2 or 3 pin plugs are most commonly used. Most of the hotels have adapter plugs, which you can take from the hotel but we would suggest clients bring adapter plugs with them.
Medical and Health
All cities have all modern medical facilities available for all types of assistance…. but at remote locations there will only be normal first aid facilities available and for any serious illness you will be taken to nearest city for proper medical facility.. Pleaes note The sun is very strong even during the winter months and the head, neck and face should be protected accordingly.
Climate
In India, we have are varied climate and this is quite surprising for first time travelers. Apart from Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal pradesh, North of Uttranchal, where the temperature lies between 10-30 degree from April – August and from September till march between -5 to 10 degree… Rest at all places in North part of India we have similar weather for most of the year; with approximately two months of monsoon rain between May and September. During the winter months there is usually strong sunshine in the daytime day temp remains around 20 degree and night temprature falls to 5 degree. The southern half of the country has more monsoon rain than the north and the temperature averages between 20-35 degree.
Normally October/November and February/March are particularly pleasant to travel, but you can travel in August and september as well, depending on the time you feel is good for you to travel. If you want, you can visit Ladakh and north of Himachal Pradesh during the summer, as these areas are open to visitors only between June & September.
Security
Please ensure that you carry small amount of cash, photocopy of passport, Hotel address, Hotel telephone number and any other valuables which you feel can carry easily without any problem…… and keep original passport, travel documents, travelers cheque in locked suitcase in your hotel room.. If you have safety box available in hotel then you can use the same… Keep a close eye on a handbags and wallets while traveling.
Places of worship & Religious customs
Most of North India Temples will permit the entry of foreigners to the inner sanctum and should this not be permitted, the local guide or escort will advise you accordingly.. Shoes will have to be removed before entering any Hindu, Sikh or Muslim place of worship. Some temples will not permit any leather items inside, including camera cases, handbags in this case our local guide will ensure safe custody of the items. It is customary to cover the head before entering a Sikh place of worship.
